Summary:

Since 1993, the Burundi is faced to socio political crisis which disturbs national social cohesion and mortgages the socio-economic development of the country. That crisis has created much social disturbances such as disappearance of a lot of people towards cross-border countries because of the crisis, creation of refugee camps in the country, deep vulnerability of a large number of people: widows and girls who are households’ leaders, orphans of crisis and of HIV/AIDS, women/girls victims of rapes…Besides, we observe the great destructions of the socio-economic infrastructures which reduce therefore the people’s expansion in various domains. In the actual post conflict situation, the regions which underwent much those perturbations like Karusi Province, the region of this initiative, have many vulnerable people because of the crisis and these ones are miserable that their accommodations are unfit or they are almost homeless, precariousness to access ways of communication between communes of the region of the initiative caused by state of roads infrastructures. Therefore, the objective of the initiative was the contribution to the lasting increase of the life conditions of the vulnerable people of Karusi in Gihogazi and Shombo communes by helping the self reconstruction efforts of refugees and to increase the accessibility to socio-economic areas of Rusamaza and Rusi. The actions already done by the initiative: 200 aimed households of vulnerable people benefited the decent accommodation; 7 km of track, a bridge on Ndurumu river and a small bridge which connects Rusi to Shombo for facilitating the access to different socio-economic services had been rehabilitated: hospitals, sewerage stations of coffee, markets, various services of training and awareness to development.
