The project comprises three actions. Firstly, the “rehabilitation of lesser heritage in Tierra Estella” in which 32 architectural elements relating to water have been recovered; “Tierra Estella – Acernet: bringing the Internet to the rural world” in which a van equipped with computers and a satellite connection visited all the localities in the region, showing the population the benefits of access to the Internet; and “Filming of a series of documentaries on customs and traditions in Tierra Estella,” safeguarding a previously undocumented intangible cultural heritage in audiovisual format.
These actions contributed to the creation of region identity in Tierra Estella through the exchange of knowledge between the young, adults and the aged. The young represent the new technologies while the adults and the aged represent knowledge of the architectural and ethnographic heritage. Thus, while the “Acernet” action shows the language of the TICs to the older population, the rehabilitation of the architectural heritage and the recovery of traditions recover the area’s culture and heritage for the young and new generations.
