In its 60year existence, the Omaha Housing Authority (OHA) has been noted for itscreative and successful approaches to improving the quality of life andself-sufficiency of its impoverished residents in the Omaha metropolitan area.Through partnerships with several local public and private organizations, OHAoffers a variety of on-site supportive services in the areas of job training;transportation; employment; programming for youth; health and medical servicesfor expectant mothers and children; service coordination for the elderly; casemanagement; and drug elimination.
IMPACT: 283 homes purchased for scattered site housing 200 youth served daily in summer by youth center 75 percent of adults in FastTrack basic skills class in 1995 graduated
