Summary:

Considering the area which has its own natural beauty with unique culture, support for hand crafts and tourism could brings economic opportunities for the village. The creation of tourism, recreational facilities, increased awareness of the people about historic objects, and participation of local women for presenting local products to the market are considered as few results for the project.

Narrative:

SITUATION BEFORE THE INITIATIVE BEGAN

The lack of information and education in regards to tourism and national heritage of the village. The village needed an opportunity to come to recognize its identity and present its customs and local music in a presentable format. Inappropriate maintenance of these cultural treasure and lack of attention from related government organization caused an extensive deterioration of the national heritage.   

ESTABLISHMENT OF PRIORITIES

  1. Consulting residence of the village to allocate an old house for attracting tourism,
  2. Organizing and educating the residence about the values and importance of the old objects,
  3. Obtaining permissions from the organization of national heritage for consultation on needed procedures, preparing local people to organize a local musical band

FORMULATION OF OBJECTIVES AND STRATEGIES

Attraction of tourism for purpose of product development in the area of food (dairy product) and hand crafts to generate income for purpose of protecting national heritage.

Providing information to the residence for better understanding their culture and makes participation for cultural and economical trend of the village, Introduction of natural attraction because it is close to Damghan River, and finally introduction of local tradition and customs with local music presentation.

MOBILISATION OF RESOURCES

Fifty percent cost of the plan mostly paid through the village admin and the rest was provided by village resident. The income from the tourism goes to village admin for improve and elevate the living condition of the resident.

Attraction and protection of local representatives specially Village Islamic Committee for organizing the people participation to the project

PROCESS

At first the only problem seems to be attaining the credits and trust of the resident to provide the old objects to the village admin for the museum. With good communication between the village admin and people of the village the necessary trust established and many meetings took place with the information crossed to the entire village. The works began to get support or access the needed credits includes; Providing a green space and protection of objects, training of the residents, selling local dairy products and hand crafts, creating more services for tourism attraction. Most credits came from the national heritage organization. Although the funding was low but it was enough to lift the project.

RESULTS ACHIEVED

The village resident learned to know their identity and national heritage. The economic condition of the village flourished due to tourism activities and income generated from the process help the living condition of the residence of the village.

The residence became more aware of the value of the old objects and their usage in daily life.

The women of the village learned to present their product" Local Bread, Local Dress, Dairy Product" to the market and income generated helped their life to great extend.

SUSTAINABILITY

The continuous flux of the tourism to the village location makes this plan one of the most sustainable plan in terms of economic and national heritage. Education through communication, combine with good economic planning pave the road to attain success and happiness for mankind

LESSONS LEARNED

This plan was economically sensitive and turned to be success. The lesson learned from the plan was its sustainability of the projects due to low cost of maintaining the plan.

It created a good socio-economic participation for the village along with tourism activities which will cover the cost of the operation.

TRANSFERS

Transferability:

The plan is transferable to any location which contains a community with sense of identity and value for national heritage. Could be setup with people participation and willing to show their talents
