BACKGROUND
The post is located in the Finance, Quality Assurance and Information Branch of the Office of Management and reports to the Finance Management Officer.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyze financial data including project income and expenditure and produce reports for management and donors.
- Prepare allotments and monitor expenditure for utilization rates and over expenditure. Prepare budget performance reports
- Review documents submitted for creation of new projects and budget revisions to ensure that all requirements are met including proof of receipt of income, budget is in line with expected income, programme support rate is correctly stated and all legal documents are in place.
- Create projects and base allotments in the system.
- Update the project management system (PAAS) with all project related data
- Produce project related statistical and financial reports
- Maintain grant agreements, income streams and projections in the PAAS, especially as it relates to IPSAS compliance.
- Back up function for the Treasury functions, including recording of contributions, liaise with Project Administrators to identify and process deposits in the bank accounts
- Back up function for preparation and monitoring of core allotments
- Ad-hoc tasks assigned by the supervisor
COMPETENCIES
Team work, communication and accountability are the competencies required for this position.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School diploma. Formal training in Management Information Systems, Finance or Accounting. An undergraduate degree in Accounting or a CPA (K) accreditation is highly desirable.
Work Experience: Thorough understanding of budgeting and accounting/financial systems. Practical experience in IMIS or compatible large scale ERP systems. At least 6 years of progressive experience in the Management Information Systems, Budgeting, Finance, Accounting or Audit. Conversant with web-enabled databases.
Language: An excellent ability to communicate (oral and written) in English. Knowledge of a second official UN language is an asset.
