With the scheduled retirement this year of Dorothee von Brentano, the former Chief Technical Advisor for the UN-Habitat Somalia Programme, the appointment of her successor is in progress. A decision was made to offer the position to Dragan Tatic, a Human Settlements Officer with UN-Habitat’s Regional Office for Africa, who has been supporting programmes in several African countries and has participated in the implementation of programme activities in Somalia as a structural engineer.
For the last 31 years, Mr. Tatic has worked in various leading positions in different countries in Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and Europe. He has extensive experience in structural engineering and design, as well as programme management and coordination. He served with UNICEF as a construction manager in Pakistan and as head of the engineering department with UNRWA in Jordan. Before he joined the United Nations, Mr. Tatic was International Rescue Committee Country Director in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Head of Mission with United Methodist Committee on Relief in Indonesia (Aceh Province). He also worked as a structural engineer in his home country of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
