Some 25 Habitat Programme Managers from around the world gathered at UN-HABITAT headquarters on Monday for a five-day seminar aimed at giving them a better understanding of the organization.
They will be briefed by senior UN-HABITAT managers on the agency’s structure, functions and its operations. Welcoming the HPMs, UN-HABITAT Deputy Executive Director, Mr. Daniel Biau challenged them to work towards raising the agency’s profile in the countries where they are based.
“You are expected to be liaison officers for our programmes,” Mr. Biau said. Among the subjects the seminar is expected to cover include the agency’s organizational structure and relationships, shelter and sustainable human settlements development, monitoring and research, technical cooperation and human settlements financing, communications and public information.
They are scheduled to meet the Executive Director, Mrs. Anna Tibaijuka, later during the week.
