Turin, 14 July 2006 - The International Labour Organisation’s Training Centre in Turin hosted a workshop on Pro-Poor Public Private Partnerships from 10-14 July 2006. This collaboration of UN-HABITAT with ILO builds on the successful experience of a previous joint training activity under the thematic banner of “Decent Jobs and Better Services.” The Turin workshop brought together local and national government representatives and covered various aspects of public and private partnership including stakeholder participation, legal and regulatory framework, employment generation and financing. Participants discussed ways of making such partnerships more effective in delivering infrastructure and basic services for the urban poor.
