The head of UN-HABITAT's new Warsaw office has paid courtesy calls on ambassadors of more than 15 countries in the region. Mr. Marek Bryx briefed ambassadors on the establishment of an Advisory Council of ministers responsible for housing and urban development that will hold its first meeting during the first quarter of 2007. The idea of establishing such a council is to help national governments and local authorities effectively implement the Habitat Agenda and the Millennium Development Goals and add value to their efforts in tackling current housing and urban development problems. |
