 A high powered delegation from the Chinese city of Wuxi led by deputy mayor Ms. Liu Hongzhi this week visited UN-HABITAT headquarters for a series of meetings with senior officials including the Executive Director, Mrs. Anna Tibaijuka.
A major objective of the visit was to brief UN-HABITAT about Wuxi’s progress and experience in the promotion of urban development in the context of rapid economic development and environmental protection. Ms. Liu welcomed a suggestion from UN-HABITAT to encourage Wuxi to develop city to city cooperation with other cities, especially in Africa, especially by organizing study tours of African mayors to visit Wuxi, which is located in Jiangsu Province on the southeast China coast. |
