The United Nations Pavilion welcomed its 100,000th visitor this morning. After a short wait, the surprised winner passed through the doors to the pavilion at around 11 a.m. The lucky visitor Ms. Wu, who comes from Jiangsu Province, was warmly welcomed by the UN Pavilion Commissioner General Awni Behnam and Deputy UN Pavilion Director Jianguo Shen.
“I can’t believe it! It’s unreal,” Wu said. “It’s out of my expectation. I never imagined I would be so lucky!” Ms. Wu was offered a certificate signed by the Pavilion Commissioner General, a UN badge, UN stamps, a commemorate piece of pottery and a bottle of Guoyuan wine. She was also invited to attend the UN Day on 24 October 2010. The UN Pavilion is expected to welcome its 500,000th and 1,000,000th visitors during the next few months. The 1,000,000th visitor will receive a bonus tea pack and an economy return ticket from Shanghai to New York. |
