Mr Uramoto is the Deputy to the Director General of Unido at the start of UNIDO week
The United Nations Pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo has launched the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Week celebrating the promotion of green industry throughout the world.
The week kicked off with a signing ceremony for the UNIDO high-tech innovation and development base by the Deputy Director General of UNIDO Yoshiteru Uramoto, China International Economic and Technical Exchange Centre Director Yao Shenhong, Shanghai Economic and Information Technology Committee Vice Chairman Wang Jian and Yangpu District Government Executive Jin Xingming.
To thank the outstanding contributions of Shanghai Economic and Information Technology Committee to the development of green industries, UNIDO Deputy Director-General Mr. Yoshiteru Uramoto awarded Mr Wang Jian an honorary certificate and trophy.
During the coming week there will be a series of high-level forums and exhibitions held at the United Nations Pavilion to introduce the "green industry" concept. In the Information Technology for Green Industry Development forum, Mr Jian said that the integration of information technology and industrialization will help transform and upgrade traditional products. “Shanghai has well integrated the two in the aviation, steel and other fields,” he said, “and will continue to explore ways of accelerating change in production.”
Nearly 200 representatives from more than 20 countries attended the UNIDO forum.
