UN HABITAT’s Executive Director, Mrs. Anna Tibaijuka, this week praised the modern planning and neighbourhood support programmes in Kuwait City.
In a one-day visit, Mrs. Tibaijuka held talks with the Minister of Public Works and State Minister of Municipality, Mr. Fadel Ali Safer. Citing the good cooperation with UN-HABITAT, he called for closer in solid waste management and inner city redevelopment.
Mrs. Tibaijuka also visited UN-HABITAT Kuwait Office in the UN Building where she met with Mr. Adam Abdel Moula, the UN Resident Coordinator and members of the UN Country Team. Mrs. Taibajuka thanked Kuwait government for providing the UN country team with superb premises.
She also met the deputy Minister of Foreign affairs Mr. Khaled Al-Garallah, the Director of International Organisations, Ambassador Waleed Al-Khoubaizi, and the Secretary General of Arab Towns Organisation, Mr. Abdul Aziz Al-Adsani.
