The Chinese version of the famous environmental film HOME has been launched at the United Nations Pavilion.
Produced by famous French director Luc Besson and taking 15 years’ shooting in 54 countries, the film, reflecting the face of the Earth and human survival has been dubbed the largest environmental film in history. The film director Yann Arthus-Bertrand and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Goodwill Ambassador, Zhou Xun, who provided the voiceover, attended the opening ceremony.
HOME’s production process itself also complied with the protection of the environment. The film’s director used carbon offsetting to calculate the total emissions of carbon dioxide in the production process and provided equivalent clean energy in the form of compensation to make it a "zero carbon" green film.
Arthus-Bertrand said: "I prepared more than 15 years to shoot this movie. What I have seen and heard completely changed me." He also warned: "Scientists tell us that we have only 10 years to change our way of life to avoid depletion of all natural resources and to prevent the disaster brought by the deterioration of the earth's climate. This bet is too big for us and our children. "
Actress Xun, who has won the United Nations "Champions of the Earth" award, agreed: "Earth is like the human body, if you always let her pay she will collapse one day."
The movie HOME’s English version had its world premiere at the World Environment Day last year and has been translated into 14 languages. It has been showed in more than 108 countries and territories. The Chinese version of HOME was released on China Central Television’s Film Channel throughout the country on July 5. |
