Actor Xia Yu leads a 'flashmob' outside the United Nations Pavilion
Chinese actor, Xia Yu, has called on people to adopt a philosophy of “environmental protection for the next generation”.
The actor was speaking at a closing ceremony for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) film series in the United Nations Pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo where he participated in an open forum titled “Urban Biodiversity – Ecological City”.
The two-day event attracted hundreds of enthusiastic volunteers who came together to debate the importance of sustainable urban and ecological development.
Yu also lead a “flashmob” - a spontaneous public and interactive activity – outside the UN Pavilion to attract and inspire crowds of passers-by to join the event.
Li Yang, a student from Tongji University who participated in the activity said “It not only stimulates a sense of teamwork but also raises awareness about our love for the earth and the importance of protecting the environment”.
