More than 50 experts from the field of marine sciences gathered at the United Nations pavilion earlier this week to promote the sustainable governance of oceans.
The Commissioner-General of the pavilion, Awni Behnam, welcomed participants to the pavilion. "We are humbled by the important work that each of you is doing in protecting one of nature's sacred treasures. The imprint of human development on oceans, compounded by the realities of climate change, only forces us to double our efforts and commitment towards preserving the precious marine environment," he noted.
The experts later took part in an interactive quiz on UNESCO protected marine sites and viewed a film by Antinea Foundation on oceans. |
