A regional consultation convened by UN-HABITAT, ISDR and MINURVI was held in Cuba, in September 2002. The participants were civil society representatives, Government, and Municipalities from Costa Rica, Cuba, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, and Dominican Republic as well as specialized regional organizations, international organizations and bilateral donors. The objective was to assess the advances and needs of the region and to formulate a strategy in relation to risk reduction and human settlements management, taking into account previous regional policy agreements and initiatives on disaster management |
