A group of 40 students from the Canadian Field Study in Africa programme of McGill University, one of the pioneering Habitat Partner Universities, has visited UN-HABITAT.
The group, led by program director Thomas Meredith, obtained an overview of UN-HABITAT's work, which included general orientation as well as presentations on the Habitat Partner University Initiative and slum upgrading in Kenya.
The initiative involves university students from a variety of majors in field-based research studies around Kenya. The participants of the program visit a range of environmental and social programmes, meet people working in community development, wildlife management and environmental conservation, get to be part of active research institutions in Kenya and conduct their own research projects in natural science, social science or interdisciplinary areas.
