Most of the residents of the world’s urban centres are happy with their cities, a new survey by UN-HABITAT shows. However, the residents also expressed misgivings about some aspects of urban governance and put forward proposals on how these could be addressed.

The new Permanent Representative of the People’s Republic of China to UN-HABITAT, H.E. Mr. Guangyuan Liu, has stated that his country attaches great importance to the role of UN-HABITAt in the world. According to Mr. Liu, “UN-HABITAT has become a very important organization in China.”

The new Permanent Representative of the Arab Republic Egypt to UN-HABITAT, H.E. Mr. Kadri Fathi Abdel-Mottaleb, appealed to the agency to help solve the slum problem in the country. Mr. Abdel-Mottaleb made the appeal while presenting his credentials to the Executive Director, Dr. Joan Clos.
