Shelter problems still persist after Myanmar cyclone
	Rangoon, 10 Feb 10 More than one year since the devastating Cyclone Nargis hit Myanmar, shelter provision for the victims still remains a huge challenge, UN-HABITAT says.

	London, 8 Feb 10 UN-HABITAT’s Executive Director, Mrs Anna Tibaijuka, said that with over half of humanity living in cities and cities already accounting for 75% of global energy consumption, urban residents are not only victims of climate change but must also be recognised as part of the solution. “Urbanisation”, she added, “brings about irreversible changes in our production and consumption patterns. How we plan, manage and live in our expanding cities determines, to a large extent, the pace of global warming.”

	Nairobi, 3 Feb 10 UN-HABITAT has launched an essay competition for the youth as part of the activities of the Fifth Session of World Urban Forum staging in Rio de Janeiro next month.
