A new UN-HABITAT office in eastern Congo

UN-HABITAT has opened an office in the eastern Congolese border town of Goma as part of a joint United Nations programme to assist people forced to flee during years of conflict in the Lake Kivu district. The office will work to help resolve land disputes.

In the Caribbean, on May 18, 2009, water utilities from Anguilla, Antigua, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Haiti, Jamaica, Montserrat, St. Kitts, Saint Vincent & Grenadines and Trinidad and Tobago met in Georgetown, Guyana, to discuss the formation of a mechanism to support a Caribbean Water Operators’ Partnerships mechanism.
