UN-Habitat Advisory Group on Gender Issues – request for nominations

UN-Habitat is seeking proposals for candidates to serve on its Advisory Group on Gender Issues established to advise the Executive Director on all matters related to gender mainstreaming in the agency's work. The Group will also provide strategic guidance and policy advice.
UN-Habitat trains female Pakistani lawyers on land rights

UN-Habitat is conducting training sessions on Housing Land and Property Rights in Pakistan for women lawyers at 11 different cities. The first one-day session was held in Islamabad on 1st June, 2012 in which 30 female lawyers have been invited to participate.
UN-Habitat and UNESCO hold advocacy seminar for Pakistani children

UN-Habitat signs Memorandum of Understanding with Fukuoka Local Partners

Dr. Joan Clos, UN-Habitat Executive Director last week signed the 4th "Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the Establishment of an Office of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme in Fukuoka" together with Fukuoka Prefectural Government, Fukuoka City, the Fukuoka International Exchange Foundation, and the Cooperating Committee of the UN-Habitat Fukuoka Office on 30 May 2012.
UN-Habitat and partners resettle Pakistan's flood victims

UN-Habitat, the German manufacturer BASF and the government of Japan this week put a smile on the face of the villagers of Gul Mohammad Gandhro near Thatta, Sindh Province of Pakistan who were victims of the floods of 2010 by resettling them.

Countdown to World Urban Forum

As the clock ticks towards the opening of the sixth World Urban Forum in Naples, registration is ongoing and expectations are high that the turnout will be good. Organised jointly by UN-Habitat, the Government of Italy, the Campania Region and the City of Naples, the theme for this year's meeting is The Urban Future. Over 3,000 participants from 114 countries have already registered for the premier conference on cities and urban issues.

Two UN agencies and the World Bank today expressed appreciation at the launch of a pilot version of a Global Protocol for Community-scale Greenhouse Gas Emissions, designed to harmonize emissions measurement and reporting process for the world's cities.
