Scroll of Honour – send your nominations now!

The deadline of 31 July 2010 for the Habitat Scroll of Honour is fast approaching. The Scroll, the most prestigious human settlements award in the world awarded by the United Nations. This year it will be awarded in Shanghai on World Habitat Day. Send your submission before it is too late.

Gearing up for World Habitat Day in Shanghai

Preparations are well under way for the Global Celebrations of World Habitat Day in Shanghai on 4 October 2010. This year’s theme is Better City, Better Life – the same as for the Shanghai Expo where the United Nations has a pavilion. A number of high level guests are expected. A week-long series of interesting events, including cultural activities, is also planned in the United Nations pavilion at the Expo. Find out more

Organize a World Habitat Day event

Around 110 events worldwide were held last year to commemorate World Habitat Day and this helped to raise global awareness. We want to exceed that figure in 2010. Let us know what you are planning at whd@unhabitat.org so that we can support and publicize your event. We will shortly announce an online campaign so that everyone has a chance to get involved in spreading the word about better cities!
