Mexico has announced that it will host the Global Observance of World Habitat Day on Monday 3 October in the city of the city of Aguascalientes, one of the fastest growing cities in the country. The city’s combination of a rich architectural and cultural heritage, and modern manufacturing industry is key to providing a high quality of life for its residents. Preparations are underway to plan a rich programme of activities for the day which will include presentation of the UN-HABITAT Scroll of Honour and the Building and Social Housing Foundation World Habitat Award.
Numerous submissions for the Scroll of Honour had been received from around the world. They represent a wide range of initiatives towards improving our cities from Australia, Sudan, Thailand to El Savador, USA and beyond. The winning submissions will be published on the World Habitat Day site and featured as best practices on the Urban Gateway, the global online knowledge exchange platform on cities.
