Thousands are expected in the Aguascalientes Theatre on 3 October for the Global Observance of World Habitat Day. In a recent major launch of World Habitat Day in Mexico City, Heriberto Félix Guerra, Mexico's Minister for Social Development (SEDESOL) announced that Aguascalientes will host this year's global World Habitat Day celebrations. The event will have high level participation from global, regional and national entities representing the public and private sectors, academia and civil society organizations dealing sustainable urban development. Highlights include an award ceremony for presentations of the Habitat Scroll of Honour and Good Practices the World Habitat Awards and national best practices from Mexico. From 4-6 October, the University of Aguascalientes will hold a Congress where leading experts will discuss the World Habitat Day 2011 theme of Cities and Climate Change with over 500 students from Mexican and other global Universities. |
