The Sixth Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF6) will take place in the southern Italian city of Naples, from 1 to 7 September 2012 under the theme The Urban Future. UN-Habitat joins the Government of Italy, the Campania Region, and the City of Naples in warmly welcoming you to attend and participate in the Forum.

The Forum is expected to bring together national leaders, slum dwellers, cabinet ministers, women's groups, mayors, youth, academics, diplomats, community and business leaders, parliamentarians, local government groups, urban activists, and more; in short, all who share our vision for better, smarter cities of the future.

NEWS
Online registration

Online registration is ongoing on the WUF6 website at: www.unhabitat.org/wuf. In the first four weeks, more than 2,000 people from 115 countries have already registered. Join us and participate at WUF6: the world's premier conference on cities.

Book Exhibition space online
The World Urban Forum exhibition will showcase some of the world's premier cities and innovations in urban development. The exhibition, which will be open to delegates and the general public, offers indoor and outdoor exhibition space. It is your opportunity to share experiences, best practices and innovative ways to improve cities. Read our Exhibition Guide and book your space by registering on www.unhabitat.org/wuf. Help us to change the urban future: The City Changer Dialogues now online
The city changer dialogues on www.worldurbanforum.org are the online kick-off for the sixth session of the World Urban Forum. This is your chance to have your say in our quest for better, smarter cities in this new urban era while influencing the content of the live event that will be held in Naples, Italy, from 1 to 7 September 2012.
EVENTS
FOCUSED Dialogues
The theme of the Forum The Urban Future will be deliberated in four focused discussions:

Dialogue 1 – Urban Planning: Institutions and Regulations, including the improvement of Quality of Life
Dialogue 2 – Equity and Prosperity: Distribution of Wealth and Opportunities
Dialogue 3 – Productive Cities: Competitive and Innovative Cities
Dialogue 4 – Urban Mobility, Energy & Environment

Special Sessions
Apart from the dialogues, six other special sessions on topics closely related to the theme or topical issues of the day will be organized by UN-Habitat, its partners and the host country, including the South - South Cooperation; Basic Services and Decentralization; the World Urban Campaign and the High-Level Inter-agency meeting.
Roundtables
There will be 12 roundtable meetings, held by peer groups - ministers, mayors, parliamentarians, partner universities, business entities, urban researchers, Habitat professionals, women, youth, civil society organizations, indigenous people, and the Global Land Tool Network.
Business Assembly
The half day Business Assembly is the main platform tailored to the private sector to present best practices and innovation for sustainable cities. It offers open facilitated debates and presentations on outstanding practices from the private sector.
Networking and Side Events
120 Networking Events and 20 Side events from all regions of the world will provide opportunities to share best practices in an array of subject areas. Look out for the announcement of these events during
the month of July for your early planning at the WUF website (www.unhabitat.org/wuf).
Training Events
20 Training Events will be held during the Forum and the call for trainees is expected to commence in the month of July.
World Urban Youth Assembly and Gender Equality Action Assembly
Look out on the website for more information on the two Assemblies, taking place on 2 September 2012.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Venue
WUF6 will take place at Mostra d' Oltremare in the western part of Naples, Italy and more information on the venue and the surrounding proximity can be found: http://www.mostradoltremare.it.
Hotel/Accommodation
We advise prospective participants to use on-line search websites for information on hotels in Naples.
Visa
Please contact the nearest Italian Embassy or Consulate in your country if you require a visa and to obtain the necessary requirements for the application. We advise that you carry with you the autogenerated Acknowledgement of Registration e-mail received after on-line registration, but kindly note that this does not automatically guarantee the issuance of visa. Also, an invitation letter from UN-Habitat is NOT a requirement for visa application.
On-site accreditation
To ease the accreditation on-site, at the WUF6 venue, accreditation will commence on 30 August 2012 and all participants are advised to take advantage of this service to avoid long queues, especially on the morning of the official opening of the Forum on 3 September 2012.
