By helping to improve access to water supplies and sanitation in secondary urban centres bordering Lake Victoria, this initiative aims at reducing the environmental impact of pollution from these towns on the Lake’s ecology. Better access to water and sanitation services will also enhance the living conditions of the poorest residents of these urban centres, and thereby support the achievement of the Millenium Development Goals for Water and Sanitation.
