Urban sustainability in the Asian cities is seriously threatened by the growing water an sanitation crisis. Many Asian cities are not equipped to provide their growing populations the safe water and sanitation they need. The challenge in India is not very different where only 90 per cent of the households in urban areas have access to safe drinking water and only 73 per cent households in rural areas.
