Cities consume the majority of world’s energy and are responsible, directly or indirectly, for the major proportion of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and other pollution. At the same time, it is cities, and in particular the urban poor, in the developing world, that are most vulnerable to and have the least resilience against effects of pollution on climate. This brochure highlights how UN-HABITAT is helping cities to devise and implement mitigation and adaptation plans to deal with climate disruption.
